On 28 and 29 October 2025, the Latvian Ergonomics Society (LEB) had the honor of being represented at the IEA – International Ergonomics Association Council Meeting at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. The event brought together representatives from ergonomics societies across the world to exchange insights, discuss global challenges, and shape the future of Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE).

Following the Council Meeting, our representative Kristīne Kursīte Ģērmane also participated in the HFE & AI Conference (30–31 October), which explored how artificial intelligence is transforming ergonomics practice across various industries. The discussions underlined not only the potential of emerging technologies but also the crucial importance of human-centered design and ethics in technological development.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Chinese Ergonomics Society, the IEA, and Tsinghua University for their warm hospitality and the opportunity to be part of such an inspiring international collaboration.

In addition to meaningful professional exchange, participants were also privileged to visit the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City – iconic reminders of human achievement and history.

The Latvian Ergonomics Society returns from Beijing with new partnerships, valuable insights, and strengthened motivation to continue promoting ergonomics, occupational safety, and human-centered innovation in Latvia and beyond.
