On October 5, 2018, an interdisciplinary conference “Ergonomics at Work – a Challenge for Health Promotion” was held at the University of Latvia. The event was organized within the framework of the European Ergonomics Month and is dedicated to the centenary of Latvia in cooperation with the Latvian Ergonomic Society and the Latvian Association of Optometrists and Opticians. The event was organized within the framework of the study programs of the University of Latvia “Work Environment Protection and Expertise” and “Optometry” as well as within the project “Development of visual ergonomics research environment”.
This year, the conference highlighted cognitive ergonomics, which is nowadays increasingly used in the analysis and improvement of work processes, and highlighted computer ergonomics. Topics were also related to health problems related to eye strain while working on a computer and possible preventive measures were presented.
